Many parents have been asking about how they can help support their child’s learning during
the holidays.  It is really important that your children have lots of free time in the holidays to
enjoy talking with you, playing with you and getting lots of fresh air.  However, if you would
like them to do a little practice each day to help make sure they don’t forget all their new
learning, here is a list of a few fun online activities they (and you!) might enjoy.

These activities are all about phonics as this will be a big focus for us next term in preparation
for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Test that all Year 1 children will be taking in June.

If your child is in a reception phonics class:

http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk (Any of the free games are great - Your child is at phase
3 level);

 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/phonics/play/ (Your child is at level 1, or
medium level);

http://www.ictgames.com/dinosaurEggs_phonics/index.html (Your child has learned
any of the sounds up to sound number 11)

 http://www.ictgames.com/forestPhonics/forestPhonicsOnline/index.html (try any of the
sounds except for ea and ar – your child has not been taught these yet.)

If your child is in Ms Lawrence, Ms Armstrong or Ms Ollivierre’s phonics group:

http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk (Any of the free games are great – Your child is at phase
4 level);

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/phonics/play/ (Your child is at level 2, or
hard level);

http://www.ictgames.com/dinosaurEggs_phonics/index.html (Your child has learned
any of the sounds up to sound number 11)

(Try any of the sounds - your child has been taught all of these).

If your child is in Ms Villineau’s phonics group:

http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk (Any of the free games are great – Your child is at phase
5 level);

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1/literacy/phonics/play/ (Your child is at level 3, or
extra hard level);

http://www.ictgames.com/dinosaurEggs_phonics/index.html (Your child has learned
any of the sounds);

http://www.ictgames.com/forestPhonics/forestPhonicsOnline/index.html (try any of the
sounds - your child has not been taught all of these.)
